What do we mean by "principle driven" environment?
Principle driven implies operating or being influenced by common fundamental values. Principles, as distinct from rules, provide the necessary structure and latitude to make the best decisions on any problem or issue. 

A principle driven environment may have clearly defined policies and procedures, however, principles serve as the "norms" that drive the environment. Through an evolutionary process of training and practice, principles can become the universal guide for decision making and accountability.
 

How can principles help in the day to day work of an organization?
An organization's day to day use of the principles for running its business is also a way of keeping itself accountable and building trust among all levels of the organization.

Given the same data to make a decision, and the same agreed upon principles, most groups have been found to arrive at the same decision regardless of level or role in an organization.  Hence, principles, when being adhered to, become a universal guide for an organization. They help engender trust and confidence in leadership and minimize productive energy losses.
